How To: Chips and Guac

Chips and Guacamole is one of the best combinations in Mexican food culture. It is undoubtedly the best starting dish you can order for your table at any authentic Mexican restaurant. But, since COVID-19 has taken over, getting that fresh ‘chips and guac’ is not going to be the same if its through takeout. So, here is a recipe for you to make at home during your quarantine. 

The ingredients you will need are:

  1. Chips (store bought), unless you desire to bake your own.
  2. Fresh Avocadoes
  3. Red Onion (diced)
  4. Cilantro
  5. Jalapenos (chopped) 
  6. Lime Juice (fresh squeezed) 
  7. Sea Salt
  8. Ground Cumin
  9. Tomatoes (diced)

The step by step process that you will have to follow to make this dish is:

Step 1: Mash your avocados: Add the avocados to a large mixing bowl and mash them to a consistency of your choice. For a smoother texture, mash them more, if not they will be chunkier

Step 2: Mix in the remaining ingredients: Add in all the other ingredients. Depending on how much guacamole you want, you can add more or less of each ingredient. Each ingredient addition is dependent of your liking for the flavor of the guacamole. 

Step 3: Taste and season: Taste what you have just mixed together and if it needs anything extra…season it! Here are some suggestions to season your guac: 

  1. Add more lime juice if you want a tangier guac.
  2. Add in another jalapeño or serrano if you want a spicier guac to challenge your taste buds. 
  3. aAdd more cilantro if you enjoy the herb taste of it. 

Step 4: Serve: Serve up the guac in a bowl and have some chips there to dip!

This dish is one that you can enjoy right after you finish creating it. Also, you can put it in your fridge and enjoy it another day if you made a big batch.
